Our take

Jobber is a more powerful platform than Orvia and it would be silly to pretend otherwise. If you run several crews and want automated customer communications, follow-up sequences and detailed reporting, it does far more than we do.

The trade-off is fit and scope. Jobber assumes you already have a website and a way of getting found; it processes work rather than generating it. It is also built with the North American market first, which shows in pricing currency, terminology and some conventions around tax and addresses.

Orvia's argument is a UK-shaped system where the website, the local town pages, the enquiry capture and the job admin are the same product, priced flat in pounds. For a business of one to five people that combination is usually worth more than automation depth they will never switch on.

There is also a practical point about complexity. Powerful platforms have a setup cost measured in weekends. Orvia's setup is a questionnaire that produces a live site the same day. If nobody in the business enjoys configuring software, that difference decides the outcome.

The verdict

Choose Jobber if you have multiple crews, want serious automation and already have a website that brings work in. Choose Orvia if you want the website, local visibility and job admin in one UK-priced package.
